A call to dance!

Recently during a coaching session someone asked me, "What calls you to dance?". It was a simple question but one that would awaken some fresh new responses, and energy to my daily movement.

I realised that in the process of creating my Oceanheart Dance Events I had lost sight of what it was I loved about dance. In simply writing about it, and not moving, I had lost connection.

After a day or so I put some music on and started to dance. I let my body be moved by the music with no filters, or judgements about what was showing up. There were a few minutes of emotional release and then my body took on a life of it's own. It was exciting as it expressed some wild, and whacky movements. I felt so much joy, and a sense of freedom. I realised expressing through movement to music was my means of expressing myself in the world. So much of what we sense and feel is beyond words whereas movement is pure expression. Growing up as a pretty shutdown child dance was my way of expressing and communicating.

I reaslised too I had been caught up in what Embodied Dance or Conscious Dance should look like. I was following the format of my training but something new was wanting to emerge cracking open the shell. I'm still not sure what that looks like but in essence it's about simply handing our power back to our bodies allowing them to express and move without bounds held in a container of love.

I shall be offering ad hoc events through June and hope to be offering more live events towards the end of July.
